Needed this reminder as I struggle to finish my MFA thesis in the same program Hugh graduated from last year. I need to let go of the idea of perfection and just express what’s true. Congrats to Hugh and great interview!
It’s also perfectly normal to finish your MFA without having completed a book! Sometimes it takes years to finish what you start during your MFA. I ultimately tossed my MFA book in the trash…and the one that followed it. But the learning you get from making those books is worth it, even if no one ever sees them in a bookstore.
